RESEARCH - Target Audience

For a movie to be a smash hit at the box office it must be targeted at the right target audience. Here is an example of a film being correctly targeted towards the right audience:

This film is targeted towards comic book fans, we can see this by the almost symbolic burning Batman sign which stands out because of the contrasting colours. The fact that it's burning suggests it's an action film which draws in a large audience and stereotypically a male audience. A dimly lit enviroment denotes that this may contain elements of a thriller, preferably a mystery thriller which draws in fans of the genre. The poster emits a dark, gritty vibe that appeals to a more mature audience base. Having the main actors' names on the poster automoatically draws the attention of their fanbases, again drawing a higher revenue stream.
