Q4: Who would be the audience for your media product?

Thrillers in general have a broad audience varying heavily between age, gender and ethnicity. This is mainly because of the various sub genres thrillers offer that allow them to be suited for nearly anyone. Although the strongest target audience that most thrillers aim for is the young adult demographic ranging from 18-25, both male and female, this genre tends not to be gender biased. Examples of such films aimed at this demographic are:

Our film Manquant is a unique blend of different thriller sub-genres: mystery, crime and psychological; although it tends to lean on the psychological aspect more so than mystery or crime. Psychological thrillers are often aimed at the young adult (18-25) demographic which I talked about above and they tend to be genderless. Ethnicity is rarely ever factored in, although thrillers do tend to have white characters but that is often seen as a habit of hollywood and is not specific to this genre only.

We tried to make our film accessible to a broad audience but our primary target audience was females in the young adult (16-30) demographic as our cast was heavily assembled of female characters which our target audience could easily relate to. Also we altered the age group range than what is traditionally used because we believed we would be able to hit a much broader audience and we knew it was the perfect range in which the audience would be old enough to be able to wrap their minds the plot and young enough to be interested in our idea for the film. Again we factored out ethnicity when trying to come up with a target audience as we believed it hardly mattered in the overall film.

Gender and age hugely factored into our target audience. She perfectly encapsulates our target audience by being 25 (which is about midway through our target audience age range) and a female.

Another factor which isn't as important as age and gender is their interest in the thriller genre as fans of past thrillers, more specifically psychological thrillers are more likely to watch our film.
