RESEARCH - Health & Safety

In one of our earliest media lessons we were given a health and safety tutorial on how to operate the complex and technical equipment we would be using over the next 3 months. We were introduced to the JVC camera (£2000) which we would be using to film our opening, the tripod which would help steadily hold up the camera, lighting which would help manipulate our locations to our liking and the sound equipment which would help us record various sounds on and off set.

During this tutorial we were shown how to correctly operate the following:
The camera we will be using during the course of this project.
  • Turning the video camera.
  • Filming basic footage.
  • Viewing the footage we had filmed on the camera itself.
  • Tilting and panning the camera.
  • Using the zoom function.
  • Cleverly focus on a particular subject.
  • How to insert/eject memory cards.
  • How to insert/eject the battery.
  • Setting up the tripod correctly.
  • The basics of operating the lights and sound equipment.
