RESEARCH - Genre and subgenre

The word Genre mean a group or class of something, usually film or other media. This is a vital component for when having target audience in mind and for differentiating different type of movies. 

Examples of film genres are 

• Horror
• Romance
• Comedy
• Drama
• Fantasy
• Sci fi
• Adventure
• Action  

 The meaning of Subgenre is a sub category of a genre for example for the movie inception which is portrayed as a psychological thriller. 

Different type of subgenres used in the film industry

• Psychological- A suspenseful movie  emphasizing the psychology of its characters rather than the plot. E.g "Inception"
• Political- A political thriller is a thriller that is set against the backdrop of political power struggle. E.g  "Notorious"
  
  
• Religious- The plot is closely connected to religious objects, institutions and questions. E.g "Edge of Apocalypse"
• Supernatural- This subgenre brings in otherworldly elements, from aliens and ghosts to weird psychic or superhuman abilities. "The Sixth Sense"
• Techno- Thrillers in which sophisticated technology plays a prominent role. E.g  "Binary"

A particular type of sub genres which isnpires me the most is a psychological thriller, because of the deep understanding and complex content which you are given. Furthermore  with these type of thrillers they will always have you at the edge of your seat since the suspense and tension is so high.. An example of this which is inspires me is the movie "inception" since the scenes and context of whats happening keeps on changing E.g one dream is completely different from the other. Finally the cliffhangers are the best in this type of subgenre since they keep on making you think what would or what happened next.
